Access Grid and e-Social Science

As part of the broader cross-Research Council programme on e-Science, the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) has launched a series of initiatives; one part of the strategy includes the establishment of the National Centre for e-Social Science (NCeSS). NCeSS aims to promote and facilitate e-Science within Social Science research using a distributed structure consisting of a hub and a set of research-based nodes.

As part of the e-Social Science programme, ESRC, in co-ordination with the NCeSS hub, is commissioning the purchase and regional distribution of a number of Access Grid nodes at a cost of approximately £30k per set-up.
