Visit your local library and obtain a copy of the Chief Constables' Annual Report for your local Police Force.
You will find that this document will provide you with all sorts of statistical information about crime, Road Accidents and Police Performance for your area.
See what examples you can find of data presented in the three forms i.e. language, numerical and graphical and see if you think that the particular presentation used actually helps you, the reader, to better understand what is being said.
Finally do a bit of analysis and interpretation of your own. Try to decide from the information presented what areas the Police Force is doing well in and which ones could still do with some improvement. Write your thoughts down and support your conclusions with data taken from the Annual report.
