Tables

Tables

Tables are an effective way of presenting a mixture of language and numerical data in a form that is easy to read and interpret. Tables are often incorporated as summary information to give impact within a longer text document. Standard software packages such as Microsoft Word allow them to be produced with relative ease.

They have built in tools that allow the data to be sorted and presented in any order. They have many uses such as:-

http://www.met.police.uk/contact/phone.htm

or:-

http://www.met.police.uk/events/index.htm

or even:-

http://www.met.police.uk/crimefigures/index.htm

This last example shows how a table can be used in conjunction with a database and graphics to pull in different information depending upon what is requested.
