Accessibility statement

The CeLLS Project is committed to providing a web resource that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our learning materials and in so doing adhere to many of the available standards and guidelines.

Scope

CeLLS learning materials are distributed as SCORM content packages and published via SCORM compliant learning environments. This statement concerns only the HTML files that make up the content package, it does not concern:

Standards compliance (guidelines and standards)

The content packages endeavour to conform to level Double-A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities. Conformance with these guidelines ensures that materials are more user friendly for all people regardless of ability.

CeLLS learning materials have been built using code compliant with W3C standards for XHTML and CSS. CeLLS web pages will display correctly in current browsers; using standards compliant XHTML/CSS code should mean that any future browsers will also display it correctly.

Exceptions

Whilst the CeLLS Project strives to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website.

Links have title attributes that describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target:

Images & Embedded Flash interactivity

All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes. Complex images include LONGDESC attributes or inline descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers. A [d] link is provided for browsers that don't support the LONGDESC attribute.

The CeLLS learning materials contain a number of MacromediaŽ Flash interactives that have been produced to provide visual representations of important learning concepts.
