Access Grid is a research project that will continue to develop and improve its capabilities in respect of supporting e-Science and e-Social Science, both of which will develop supportive virtual communities working on shared projects.
There will be further technical enhancements that meet the goals of near face-to-face meeting quality, such as improved sound and visual quality. There will be a more extensive ability to share data and applications.
As the various Social Sciences make greater use of computer models of human social behaviour, then access to high-powered computer resources to manipulate variables may become increasingly important. The future development of the Access Grid may include the ability to access these computer resources. The latest version of the Access Grid toolkit integrates existing Grid computing tools, which include security, data management and data transfer tools.
Future improvements relating to the interface for the Access Grid are planned that will make data sharing and Grid computing simpler, more seamless and therefore much easier to use.
