The Access Grid is under constant development by the inventors of the technology at Argonne National Laboratory, Chicago, as well as by a worldwide community of users.
This worldwide research community consists primarily of academic institutions. However, there are also major corporations such as Boeing, Motorola and Johnson & Johnson that have committed R&D funds to the project and some that offer Access Grid hardware and services as commercial products.
The most notable commercial developer is inSORS, which markets a product known as the inSORS Grid (IG) platform. They develop and supply off-the-shelf Access Grid solutions with production-quality hardware and software to support collaborations. The inSORS solution is behind many of the services operated the Access Grid Support Centre, which is based at the University of Manchester.
