e-Science

John Taylor, Director General of the Research Councils said, "e-Science is about global collaboration in key areas of science and the next generation of infrastructure that will enable it" .

E-Science (or e-Research as it is increasingly, and more inclusively, becoming known) involves having shared access to a set of research facilities such as laboratories, high powered computers, very large data collections and visualization technologies. This will allow more powerful and innovative research designs in most areas of research, including social science.
