Shared Whiteboards

These interactive, collaborative tools allow people to share text and drawings over the Internet on a shared drawing surface, like a normal white or blackboard, except that the users may not be in the same physical location. Typical shared whiteboards are designed for informal conversation, but they may also serve structured communications or more sophisticated drawing tasks, such as collaborative graphic design, publishing or engineering applications.

One example of a Shared Whiteboard can be found within Microsoft NetMeeting.
